"Hi Amy, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you sooner but I just wanted you to
know that you are a great teacher and hope you the best, thanks for
everything.

"Thanks Amy for all of your help!
Have a nice summer and happy wedding!!!"
Thanks for all the good wishes guys! Have a good rest of the summer,
and good luck with the rest of your math careers!!

"thank you amy having the patience and the guidance to deal with us god
luck and have a nice summer bye amy.and thank you again"

"Hey Amy thanx for a great year best of luck on your job and best
wished for you and your future husband. You are the best!

"is the heron formula going to be on the exam? and are most of the
questions from chapters 5-7 and some from chapters 1-4? or the questions
are equally distributed?"
No questions about Heron's formula. It's a pretty good mix of
problems, rather fairly distributed with a few more from chapters 6 and 7.
Wed 7/21/2004 6:01 PM
"is there gonig to be a indirect proof on the exam?"
No indirect proof.
Wed 7/21/2004 4:49 PM
"Amy, can you tell us what kind of constructions theres going to be on
the Final, if you can't tell us can you give us a hint or a clue?"
If you can do the constructions for the orthocenter, centroid,
incenter, and circumcenter, AND you know how to do the little parts that
make those up, then you will do well on the constructions.
Wed 7/21/2004 12:18 PM
"Amy- you know that last proof you couldn't figure out? Well, I got
it! Here it is:
1. m VAU= m LUA - given
m VUA =m LAU- given
2. AU congruent to AU- reflexive
3. triangle VAU is congruent to triangle LUA- ASA
4. AU is congruent to LU - CPCTC
5. LU + AU> AL- triangle inequality thm.
6. AV + AU> AL - substitution"

"if you are getting a 78 point something do you think there is a chance
to make it an 80%"
It's possible. Of course, to give you a truly accurate answer, I'd
need to know the details of your current grade.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 21:55:45
"hi amy howmany questions are there on the finals out of howmuch?"
As of right now, there are 15 multiple choice, 17 true/false, 29 parts
of short answer questions, 2 proofs, 1 complete the proof, and 3
constructions.
"Hey Amy,How do you do numbers 3 and 4 in section 7.5, THANKS."
3: You have to use the (measure of arc)/(measure of circle) = (area of
arc)/(area of circle) proportion to set it up.
4: Use that same proportion to get the area of the sector, but then
subtract the triangle to get the segment.

"Hey Amy,
if you are getting a 68% in the class, then what do you need on the
final to atleast pass?"
That really depends on the grades you've gotten so far that have
created that 68% because I put so much emphasis of your grade on the
homework quizzes.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 19:55:51
"Hey Amy,
What exactly is going to be on the final because you were saying it is
a long exam"
It consists of many true/false questions and multiple choice questions
where I test your understanding/knowledge of the theorems/vocabulary.
There are a couple proofs and a few constructions. There are some short
answer questions. The reason I say it is a long exam is because you are
going to have to sort out all the vocabulary from the class, and it could
conceivably take you a long time.
Tomorrow we will be going over some review questions/examples. I
recommend you study those, study the chapter reviews in your book, and
study past exams.
The material for the exam will be chapters 1-7 in your text.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 19:02:43
"Amy- every little thing and detail we covered is going to be on the
final?"
Not every detail, but a good number of them. I am testing for your
comprehension of the course as a whole.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 17:20:33
"amy-
is everything we've covered in class going to be on the final?"
Yes. The final is comprehensive.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 16:52:37
"Hi Amy, I need help on problems 13 and 17 on section 7.5?Thanks"
13: To find area, use the proportion: (measure of arc)/(measure of
circle) = (area of arc)/(area of circle). To find perimeter, you need to
add up the lengths of all the sides. To compute the arc length, use the
proportion: (measure of arc)/(measure of
circle) = (length of arc)/(circumference).
15: This is the same as 13 for the perimeter.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 16:00:37
"How do you do numbers 25 and 27 on section 7.4"
25: Set up the equation you get from the area. Plug in the numbers you
know, and solve for the radius. You can use the approximation 3.14 for
π if you want.
27: You need to set up the proportion I discussed in class today.
(measure of arc)/(measure of circle) = (length of
arc)/(circumference). Again, plug in what you know, and solve for what's
missing. For circumference, use the formula 2πr.
Tue, 20 Jul 2004 15:19:59
"Hi Amy can you help me out with #'s 21 and 22 on section 7.4?"
For each of these guys, you need to compute the diagonal of the white
figure, which is the same as the diameter of the circle. For the each of
these guys, you can use the Pythagorean theorem to find that missing
length. Then look at each problem as Area = (area of circle) - (area of
white region).

"amy, what if i don't do well on this test and my grade continues
falling and i know it won't meet the passing grade? Is there still time to
withdraw? i don't want to drop out of the class though since there are
only 3 more days."
The deadline to withdraw from the class has
passed. If you email me or stop by my office hours, we can talk about
your personal situation and see what you need to score on the final in
order to pass with a C.
